Originally designed as a tongue-in-cheek nod to the meme on popular social video platforms, the Subawu Token has taken on a life of its own as a community-driven, ownership-renounced project. The smart contract provides a vehicle (pun intended) for charitable donations and marketing, and also rewards loyalty. Anyone can join the Subawu community, with the provision that their behavior reflects the community spirit of kindness, transparency and philanthropy.

It was created and then open sourced to the community by Steven P McKeon (Mac), a publicly doxxed figure, who is the CEO of Macguyver Media, LLC dba MacguyverTech.
